Reviews for Das Café
Review highlights
Based on 503 reviewsDas Café in Spring City is frequently praised for its welcoming atmosphere, blending a cozy main dining area with a spacious banquet-like room and an inviting outdoor patio. Reviewers consistently highlight the quality and homemade feel of the German-inspired cuisine, with particular emphasis on unique dishes featuring dill-infused flavors and hearty options like sandwiches, soups, and waffles. The carrot cake emerges as a standout dessert, noted for its exceptional taste. Service at Das Café is described as friendly and efficient, contributing to a positive dining experience even during busy times. While some menu items receive mixed remarks based on personal preferences, the overall food quality and inviting ambiance make it a favored spot for both quick meals and leisurely visits.
While visiting family in Spring City we had the opportunity to eat at Das Cafe. The building looks really small but it has a larger room almost like a banquet hall off the main dining area/cafe. It was packed but we got our food quickly once we decided what to order. Our group ordered the loaded Belgian waffle with fresh berries, the salami and havarti sandwich, the soup of the day which was chili, and the bratwurst platter with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. We also ordered a drink called the Mormon Mocha (I don't love the name of this drink as it is a derogatory term for the pioneers who settled Utah but it was a clever sell all things considered) and some carrot cake since it was Easter weekend. We all samples and passed plates around the table so we could taste a little of everything. The favorites of the meal were the mashed potatoes with a dill mustard/horseradish gravy (I know it might not sound good but it really was!), the sauerkraut with Caraway seeds (just like they serve it in Czechia where my husband lived), the loaded Belgian waffle, and the chili. If you go, I highly recommend trying the mashed potatoes and gravy and the sauerkraut!
Food was delicious and service was excellent! We’ll definitely stop here again when passing through. Get the carrot cake for dessert even if you’re full.
Wow! What a unique and pleasant surprise of a meal! I would drive out of my way for that unexpectedly sweet, dill gravy and mashed potatoes! The green bean soup with dill was great as well! The Reuben sandwich and Braut were pretty standard, but add the housemate saurkraut and gravy and you're in for a treat! The dill potatoes salad wasn't my favorite (I'm not a fan of bacon bits flavor). As for the breakfast, the omelette was okay. The waffle was a little dry. I would come for lunch instead. I'll be back to try the famous carrot cake! ***if you liked my review or found it to be helpful give it a thumbs up. and follow me on Google Maps for more reviews!
Great tasting like homemade. Great German cuisine. Such friendly service. You can order your food to go and if a seat becomes available you can take a seat. There is an outdoor patio with a cute mural.
Seeing the reviews for the carrot cake, we had to come try it ourselves! We didn’t have anything else but the carrot cake, but that’s okay because it was AMAZING!!! It’s the best carrot cake I’ve had, and I can’t wait to go back and get it again!
Great authentic German food with good service. I am not usually a sauerkraut fan but the sauerkraut there wasn’t bad. Still not a big fan of it so that didn’t help, but everything else was really good and the sauerkraut wasn’t bad for someone who doesn’t like it. The carrot cake was especially good.
Das Cafe is such a charming spot, family owned and operated. You can feel the love and pride they put into everything they do. The service is friendly, genuine, and makes you feel right at home. A wonderful experience all around!
I love the food. Wife had the waffle with fruit. It was great. I had the German breakfast Sausage, but they have not been able to get the German Breakfast Sausage for a couple of weeks. I substituted a Braut. It was a really good Braut, but not designed to have with eggs and German potatoes. It’s not their fault, there are no German breakfast sausages available from their supplier.
